Ryan T. Smith is the Managing Member of RTS Law Group. Mr. Smith focuses on Criminal and Civil Litigation, DWI Defense, Personal Injury, and Guardianship. His practice is backed by an understanding of the banking world gained by his tenure with Wachovia Securities in Corporate & Investment Banking [CIB]. He worked in the Equipment Finance Division, focusing on the tax-incentivized financing of corporate assets such as aircraft, yachts, and technology-based products.

Mr. Smith was born and raised in Wheeling, WV. He completed his undergraduate education at the Marshall University Lewis College of Business. Mr. Smith then acquired his law degree from the West Virginia University College of Law. During his tenure at WVU, he earned membership to the West Virginia Law Review as an Associate Editor, and spent his third year in the West Virginia University Clinical Law Program, where he practiced under a supervising attorney in the areas of family law and bankruptcy. Mr. Smith spent two summers studying abroad. The summer after his first year of law school was spent in Europe, studying law in Greece, Italy, and Spain through the University of Miami School of Law Mediterranean Legal Studies Summer Abroad Program. The summer after his second year of school was spent in South America, studying law in Brazil and Argentina through the West Virginia University College of Law Business and Politics Summer Abroad Program.

Mr. Smith is a member of several professional organizations including the North Carolina Bar Association, American Bar Association, Mecklenburg County Bar (Criminal Justice Division), Young Lawyers Division (Social Committee Member), and the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce.

Active in community affairs, Mr. Smith is involved in many sports leagues. Mr. Smith is the commissioner of the Mecklenburg County Bar Basketball League, also being a captain of the RTS Law Group team. He is also a captain in the Queen City Hoops basketball league based at Myers Park Presbyterian Church. Additionally, Mr. Smith is a member of the Charlotte Basketball Club (CBC), Interlink Sports, and the YMCA of Greater Charlotte. He is a dedicated member of the West Virginia University and Marshall University alumni associations. During his younger years, Mr. Smith was named in the Top 30 Under 30 Leaders in Charlotte.
